Can you believe that the first week of June has come and gone!? We are still chugging along! We continued yet another week of Wonders, "How can weather affect us?". We read historical fiction about the New York City Blizzard of 1947 and Vermont flooding of 1927. Both recounted a families' experience during this historic weather event. We discussed the theme of each story we read and learned lessons from each.
In writing, we continued work on the life cycle of an animal. We finished most of our research and are currently working on our rough draft. The students must include an expository text feature. Many have decided to draw a picture of the life cycle or a words to know box. They are turning out so great and I can't wait to see the final project.
Our math unit continues! This week, we really focused on angles and parallel or intersecting lines! We began to look at polygons and what a polygon's features are. Our plan is to wrap up the unit before the end of the school year.
Please don't forget that FIELD DAY is on Friday, June 12th. Students MUST WEAR sneakers and should wear their bathing suit under their clothes. Students should also bring a change of clothes because they will get wet during field day. After that, we will be up in our classroom and they may be cold or uncomfortable.
Our end of the year party will be on FRIDAY, JUNE 19th. All parents are welcome to attend from 9:30-12:00. Please let Ms. Bourdon know if you are planning on attending.
