Hello! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! I first want to thank all the parents and family members who were able to attend our Veteran's Day program today, Monday. The class and I were thrilled with the turn out and we loved honoring all the veterans that were there. Thank you and we hope you enjoyed it! :-)
We began a new Wonders week, focusing on immigration. The class has learned that there are some reasons why a person might immigrate to a new country. This fits in perfectly, because we know the Pilgrims immigrated here for religious freedom. We have been reading historical fiction texts and learning some interesting facts about the time period when many people immigrated to America. Our comprehension strategy this week includes theme and making predictions. The students have also loved working with similes! Also, wait until you see how wonderful their how-to writing came out!
The third graders have been working hard on their multiplication facts. Last week, we went through some of the harder facts! We even learned a trick for the 9 facts. Ask your child to show you. We are wrapping up this multiplication unit and look for another unit test to be coming up.
Who works at city hall? The students finished making posters about one of the departments of city hall. Today, November 24, the students presented their news reports about their departments. They had to include an exciting opening, their names, as well as two or three facts about their department. It was important that when they were sharing, they spoke clearly. Look for their grade to come home this week. Below are their posters!
I hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving!
