Week of February 15th

In order to practice our ACE writing strategy, the students and I have researched multiple important people throughout America's history.  February is Black History Month and we read about Thurgood Marshall, Harriet Tubman, the Tuskegee Airmen, and Ruby Bridges.  Mrs. Selby also had us research about many more by completing an interesting activity in computers.  The ACE strategy has really been helping students write complete answers to questions about a text.  Students rewrite the questions, cite evidence from the text, and then extend their answer.  It helps them to stay organized!

In Wonders, we read lots of poems this week about people who inspire others. We discussed the difference between free verse and narrative poems.  Poems typically have repetition, rhyme, and will sometimes have a theme.  The students and I also looked a metaphors.

Don't forget....we have a math test on Monday!  Be sure to review the study guide that came home over the weekend! :-)  See you Monday!
