February has come and gone!

Wow!!!  Time is flying by and we are accomplishing so much!  We really focused on the water cycle this week.  Students pretended that they were a water droplet and wrote a short story as if they were going through the water cycle.  The writing was fantastic and students are really understanding how and why the water cycle works!  Here is a look at our awesome bulletin board that the students helped to design!

In Wonders, we wrapped up Unit 5, Week 1.  Our essential question was "How do we get what we need?"  We discussed bartering and how people often used it in the past.  The genre was fairy tales and we learned about all features of a fairy tale.  In the stories, we discussed point of view and how to tell what a character's point of view is in the story.  This is a comprehension strategy that we will keep working on.

Last, our math continues with fractions.  We discussed the terms, numerator, denominator and the definition of each.  It is important for third graders to know the terms and how a fraction is written.  The fraction skills will get more difficult, so we need to master the basic level of fractions first.  See you Monday!
