This week, we continued to work on decimals in math. The students learned about the tenths, and hundredths place. We compared decimals and wrote them in order. The third graders even wrote equal decimals and fractions. It was very interesting and we will continue to work on this in the new year! Our Unit 5 test will also occur in the first week of January as well.
We took a reading assessment on the transportation unit we have been learning about throughout the past 2 weeks. We had read poems, historical fiction, realistic fiction, and a newspaper article about transportation. My favorite was the interview with a man who talked about the future of transportation. We looked up information on somethings, including Personal Rapid Transit, maglev trains, and jet packs! So interesting!!! The students did GREAT on the assessment! I am so proud!! :-) It was a great way to end the week!
The rest of the week was filled with finishing our gifts for you and playing catch-up on somethings that we hadn't gotten to yet! We reviewed what happens when a word ends in -tch, -ch, or y and you need to make it plural!
Sing to the tune of "If you're happy and you know it"
Written by Mrs. Gallinaro
tch or ch add ES, add ES
tch or ch add ES, add ES
A consonant and y, oh it makes me want to cry
Drop the y and add ies, IES!
Friday consisted of a Holiday Sing-a-long followed by an assembly honoring Mr. D. We are going to miss him! Thanks Mr. Derkoski!!! Our party was a success, thank you to all parents who helped out in someway (especially Mrs. Christinzio for organizing).
