Updates

The school year is quickly coming to an end!  The third graders and I wrapped up another week.  In science, we continued to study and observe the crayfish.  Our class got so lucky as two of the crayfish molted!  How cool! :-)  The students have learned the different vocabulary words that go with a crayfish, including some of their body parts.  In the next few weeks, there will be a test on the crayfish.

In Wonders, we read about animals and compared them to other animals.  The essential question was "How can learning about animals help you respect the?"  The two stories included facts and information about butterflies, alligators, and crocodiles!  Good readers continue to use clues in the story to figure out unfamiliar words and compare and contrast the information given.  It was a tough reading test this week, as you have seen.

The math unit on graphs was continued, with bar graphs, pictographs, and line plots.  The students are learning to be careful when checking the information on the graphs so that they can answer questions about a graph.  Next week, there will be an assessment on graphs before we start our LAST math unit!
