Finally, a regular week!

Our class welcomed May by participating in the Jump Rope for Heart!  We had so much fun and a big thank you to Mrs. Cuzzupe for organizing the fun event!

In Wonders, we talked about the historical fiction genre.  We learned about famous weather events that happened and how it affected families living in that area.  The stories were told about the 1947 NYC Blizzard and a bad flood in Vermont!  This then began the discussion about historical fiction and the special features that are included in this genre.  We have begun to write and research our very own historical fiction pieces.  They are based on the I Survived series, which most every third grader loves!  Some of our historical events include Hurricane Sandy, the destruction of Pompeii, the shark attacks in 1916, and September 11th.  Next week, we will begin researching about the historical event to hopefully begin writing our piece.  Please encourage your child to discuss their topic and see if you have facts to add to their writing.

Our next third grade science topic included researching about climates!  I learned so much from the third grade research.  Each student created a poster about the climate and had the opportunity to research on a website.  I hope they learned as much as I did.

Reminder: Our field trip is on Friday, May 13th!  Don't forget permission slips should be turned in ASAP!
