Welcome 2016!

Happy New Year!

The students and I wrote a little to reflect on 2015 and plan for 2016.  They created a mobile about their goals and their favorite thing that happened in 2015.  They turned out really cute!

In Wonders, we started with our new week and essential question, "What ideas can we get from nature?"  Scientists get many ideas from nature and copy them to make new inventions!  Some scientists have copied a gecko's feet, a worm's glue, and even the burrs that you find on trees!  The expository texts gave us lots of information about this topic and we learned so much!  Students can always log onto the Wonders site on their own, as long as they remember their password.  The students took a reading test on Friday and it will come home next week.

I hope that you saw a science study guide come home last week.  Our test on the layers of the Earth and volcanoes will be on Tuesday, January 12th.  The students played a science review game so that they will be ready.

In division, we kept plugging along with the division facts!  The students took two division quizzes this week and I will have them returned next week as well.

Don't forget!  Quizzes and tests need to always be signed and returned so that I know you saw them.

Have a great weekend!
