2015 coming to an end!

This past week, the third graders read lots of informational texts about the solar system!  We learned so much about the planets that are in our solar system, as well as the sun, moon, and even satellites!  There was also a section all about the Hubble Telescope. Did you know that it has been orbiting Earth for 25 years? Wow! The students discussed main idea and key details of each story.  Another skill that was worked on was identifying how a suffix changes a root word, such as -ly and -y.  There was a lot of information, especially on their reading assessment for the week.  It was important that the students went back and found the answers.

In math, we continue with division and are discovering how to solve division problems.  Many students related multiplication to division and it is coming quite easy to them.  We divided cubes into equal groups, which is what division is.  In the next few days, two quizzes will be coming home.  They are both about division.

On Wednesday, it is pajama day.  Also, if your child would like to bring in an appropriate holiday movie to watch, they may do so.  We will be watching a movie before our holiday party! :-)
