Week of September 21st

We can't believe that September is quickly coming to an end!!  This week, we took our first MAP assessment in reading and math.  These scores will be available for you to see at November conferences.

In Wonders, we read autobiographies about how people from different cultures contribute to a community!  This included many interesting stories.  We began to learn about the different parts of sentences, including the subject and predicate.  Students continued to write friendly letters and learn the different parts of it.  We are getting close to mastering friendly letters.

In math, we continued place value concepts, including rounding and moving onto addition properties.  There are three addition properties, identify, commutative, and associative.  On Friday, the students began to add two-digit numbers together and to regroup as needed.  The addition continues into this week, including adding three-digit numbers.

Continents and oceans continue to dominate our social studies topics!  Be on the lookout for a review guide for a quiz on Tuesday, October 6th.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Thank you!
