This week, we finished up Unit 1 of Wonders and began to work on some group projects. They included Readers Theater, a timeline of the Golden Gate Bridge, a timeline of Woodbury Heights, and a poster describing the traditions of the 4th of July! The students work diligently to finish these projects and had to work cooperatively with their group. They turned out awesome and we will present them next week.
In writing, we wrote a Halloween narrative. The narrative had to include five or more vocabulary words from Unit 1, a metaphor, and a compound sentence. Then I worked with students to add editing symbols to their rough draft before they wrote their good copy. We will have a spooky reading during the week of Halloween!
We worked a lot with measuring this week in math. We reviewed how to measure in inches and centimeters. We even learned about 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch! The students also had to measure in decimeters! Wow!
In science, we discussed why seasons occur on Earth. We made a seasons wheel and drew pictures of what each season looks like! It was so much fun!
Thank you to the parents who came to Parent Observation Day! I hope you enjoyed your time in the classroom!
REMINDER: November 12th is our Veteran's Day Presentation. Please invite any veterans, as well as your family members that are able to attend.
