Who can believe that it is June ALREADY!! The third graders are chugging along and completing our end of the year responsibilities. This includes one last Language Arts Literacy test. We completed Theme 11 and took our test on Friday. These will come home next week to be signed and returned. You have seen our final spelling tests also come home.
In math, we also finished up with our multiplication and division timed tests. As you saw, your child improved their scores throughout the school year. However, it is very important that you continue to work on this during the summer. This practice of multiplication and division may include flash cards, downloading worksheets from the internet, or finding online games. Check our Kid Sites on the WHES website for some helpful sites! We also began a review of the math skills we learned in third grade. Next week, we will complete an end of the year assessment. Your child can study from the packet that was sent home on Thursday.
The third graders began writing advice essays to next year's third graders. It is so interesting what the students wrote that is the most important advice for third grade. We are going to type these up and have them ready for the second graders by the end of the week.
We continue to observe our "beloved" crayfish. The students love watching them and interacting with them. Look for an adoption paper to come home next week if you are willing to take home a crayfish!
Don't forget...FUN AND FIELD DAY is on Friday, June 14th. Your child should wear sneakers and can wear a bathing suit (under clothes for girls). Also, our class picnic/party will be on June 20th. All parents are invited. I am thinking it might not start until 9:45-10:00, but I will send home a formal invitation next week.
Have a fun filled weekend!
