Made our way through May!!!

Who can believe that May has come and gone so quickly!

The third graders were extremely busy this week, even though it was shorter than most weeks!  We had lots to do to prepare for the Spring Concert and our Immigration presentation.  The students worked hard with Mr. B. to be ready to play their recorders for the students and parents.  I am proud of their maturity when they were on stage!  They also showed this during the Immigration Presentation.  Each student worked hard to create their story and it paid off.  They looked great in their costumes, right?!!? Thank you to those of you that were able to come for it.

This week, we continued some work with main idea.  The students learned that the main idea could come in the first or last sentence of a paragraph.  We also wrote about a character overcoming a problem.  Look for these to come home next week with a grade based on a rubric we created.

In science, we created big drawings of the crayfish.  We had to work cooperatively with other students to draw the crayfish and label the parts. This will also be counted as a grade, based on a crayfish drawing rubric.

In third grade, we have completed all of the Everyday Math units.  I am currently grading the Unit 10 assessment and will send that home next week.

I hope you have an enjoyable weekend and the countdown is on...15 days!
