Happy Thanksgiving!

What an exciting end of our short week!  On Wednesday, we had an assembly to celebrate the money we raised for JDRF!  I was a participant in the SpongeBob dance, but other teachers participated in Gangnam Style and Wobble Dance!  It was so much fun to see everyone at WHES having so much fun.  Ask your child what part was their favorite.  We also honored Mrs. Ferrell who is now retired!

In writing this week, we worked on writing a five paragraph essay on what we are thankful for.  Most students were able to finish and I hope you have the chance to read it.  Throughout the rest of third grade, we will continue to work on five paragraph essays to become even better at writing them!  We also read an interesting story about New York City and what it used to be like.  New York City was once an ocean and even a hot desert!

In math, we continue to work on multiplication and division skills.  Please continue to practice at home!

Something NEW for third grade was an assessment called "Learnia."  This is to prepare us for the NJ ASK test in May.  We first took the written part of the test in the classroom.  We had to read a selection and answer two questions.  Next, we read more selections on the computer and answered multiple choice questions on the computer as well.  This assessment mimics the NJ ASK and will help us learn how that test works, as well as helping me with the areas that need to be focused on before May.

I hope you and your family enjoy Thanksgiving.  The weather is supposed to be beautiful.  I told the third graders that they have lots to be thankful for!  See you Monday! :-)
