Welcome Back!

I hope that everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing spring break!  I know that the students are refreshed and ready to go!!

Our week started with the trade fair!  The students did an awesome job of participating, trading, and answering the questions.  This showed in their grade for the fair.  Thank you for all  your hard work!

Mrs. Selby came into our classroom this week to begin a special project with the iPads. We used an app called ToonTastic.  The students had the opportunity to make a cartoon, using a background, creating characters, and even record what the characters say!  We had used a graphic organizer to plan out our stories in advance.  The ToonTastic projects are very creative and were a little tricky!  The students had to record their voices, while moving their characters at the same time.  I think they turned out great and the students loved using the iPads.

In science, we have begun our Structures of Life Unit.  We began by discussing seeds and where they come from in fruits or vegetables.  The class learned that "structure" means framework of something, which we translated to mean that the seeds are how the fruit, veggie, or plant begins.

In Language Arts, we took our Theme 10 assessment.  It will come home on Monday to be signed and returned.  Theme 10 included working with pronouns, verbs, and reference materials.  We also dived into author's purpose. Spelling consisted of working with words that have apostrophes, contractions and possessives.  The students had to write a story that included contractions and possessives, which turned out to be harder than we thought.
