Thank you to everyone who attended our inquiry project presentation on Friday morning! I am so proud of all the hard work that the third graders put into these presentations. They learned so much about their topic that I think they are experts now! I hope you enjoyed listening to all the interesting facts.
In Language Arts, we continued our Theme on Dangerous Weather. We read Wild Weather which taught us about records in weather. Do you know where the coldest or hottest temperature was recorded? Once a farmer saw a snowflake that was 15 inches long! The students have been working with vocabulary words also. We used a spinner on the StarBoard that told us what we must do with the words. For example, we had to write a synonym or antonym for a vocab word. There was also hangman or give three clues about the vocab word. In spelling, we continue to review homophones, specifically its/it's and lets/let's. It is interesting to see the difference between these words!
In math, we finished a unit on multiplication facts. Next, we are moving onto fractions. It will be more in-depth than second grade fractions. Please continue to practice multiplication at home. It is homework each week. If your child turns in their multiplication practice, they will earn a "dollar."
In social studies, we began to discuss buyers and sellers. We discussed what the role of each one is. This begins our unit on how an economy works. In science, we began to learn about the water cycle, by completing a chart with what we know and any questions we might have. Hopefully our questions will be answered by completing the water cycle unit.
