Week of 10-29 and 11-5

CONGRATULATIONS to our class president SHIANNE!  Our runner up Andrew did a fantastic job also.  Both students worked very hard answering the questions from their peers.  Andrew will be serving as Shianne's vice president.  I am proud of all students for taking this seriously!

We had two short weeks, but a lot was done!  Over this break, please have your child practice their Veterans Day poem, as well as their index card.  Don't forget: The THIRD GRADE Veterans Day presentation will be on Wednesday, November 14th at 1:00.  This will take place in the library.  All parents are invited, as well as any veterans or current military.

LAL:  We finally finished The Mouse and the Motorcycle.  What a fun novel to read!!!  Today, we made posters about the book and created a rubric to grade it with.  I can't wait to start another novel with the students.  Does anyone have the movie The Mouse and the Motorcycle?  We were hoping to watch it the next time we earn a compliment party.

The third graders also continued to write their novels and are chugging along!  We discussed sounds for /s/.

Social Studies:  We have been working really hard on our Veterans Day program! We wrote a few sentences about Veterans Day.  This week, we also had the opportunity to "vote" for president in school.  I think that the students enjoying going into a booth and voting.  Ask your child about this!  Who did they vote for and why?

Some friendly reminders: JDRF fundraising is taking place NOW! If you would still like to submit the paper about a veteran, I will take it to hang up on Wednesday!
