Week of March 3

The third graders continued with Week 2!  We continued to look at making singular words into plural words.  Vowel teams are also part of words that help us to read them.  We learned that vowel teams make a certain sound when reading the words.  The students continue to work on writing about the point of view of characters in a story.  In  "The Talented Clementine" the two teachers had opinions about Clementine.  It was a funny story to read.  We took our Week 2 Assessment, which will come home next week to be signed.

In honor of "Read Across America" week, we read The Lorax.  After reading, we planned and wrote about how we can help the Earth.  The students had their pictures taken with a Lorax mustache!  They were pretty funny!  On Wednesday, we had a special assembly with the Cat in the Hat.  We said our reading pledge and sung songs!  It was great to celebrate Dr. Seuss!

The cat food collection has ended and the woman from PetSavers came to collect the food.  The school helped us collect over 400 containers of cat food!!!  Wow!  We had a little celebration today and watched The Lorax.  Thank you to those who donated!

Be on the lookout for an invitation to watch our Inquiry Group presentations!  The date will be March 20 at 2:15.

Thanks for reading!  Enjoy the beautiful weather!
