Flat Stanley, OH MY!

This week consisted of lots of Flat Stanley sharing!  It is amazing to hear about all of the places that Stanley visited.  This includes lots of Jersey Shore visits, Disney World, India, Antarctica, Canada, England, and lots of places in America.  Thank you for helping your child complete this interesting project.

We also discussed plant parts, specifically seed parts.  On the STARboard, we watched a short movie and labeled a plant by moving labels.  This science unit is titled Structures of Life and we know now that seeds are the "structure" of a plant.

In Language Arts Literacy, we continued NJ ASK preparations!  We read two fables, The Ant and the Grasshopper and So Say the Monkeys.  Both fables had morals that taught us to work hard now for the future!  The grasshopper and father monkeys were very lazy and didn't do the work they should have.  We examined both stories closely.  With Mrs. Miller, the class read two informational texts.  After each one, questions were answered.  The questions we focused on were the written responses, where students had to use evidence from the text to support their answer.  Students MUST go back through the text to find the evidence.

We took our Unit 11 Math assessment, which will come home early next week.  The Flat Stanley grades will also come home then.

Thank you to all who came out to Best of Heights Night!  It was so great to see all of you!!!  I hope you enjoyed your night, as I know your child did!  Have an enjoyable weekend. :-)
