Our Theme 9 Literacy unit, includes an in-depth study of nouns! We of course know that nouns are a person, place, or thing! In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday, we made three Cat in the Hat "hats" and wrote people, places, and things on them. Keep your eye out for them at Best of Heights Night. We also began to determine the difference between proper nouns, pronouns, and common nouns. So interesting! My favorite songs are The Noun Song and Pronoun Song.
We've also been reading stories about factories, including a bread mill, car factory, and how cotton was made in the early 1900s. Our vocabulary words have been introduced and the Theme 9 assessment will be late next week.
In science, we continued the water cycle. A study guide will be sent home on Monday for the quiz the following Monday, 3-18. Each student wrote as if they are a water droplet and how they go through the water cycle. The students had to follow a rubric to make sure they included all the important facts from the water cycle.
Supply and demand continued to be our topic for social studies. Our final assignment was to look through circulars and decide why the products had that price. Was the supply high and demand low? OR...was the supply low and demand high? We will continue next week by learning about global trade.
DON'T FORGET! Jump Rope for Heart is Monday, 3-11. Permission slips are due! Have a great weekend. :-)
