Week of 9-24

I first have to congratulate the students as well as the families on the exceptional work that I saw on the Map Quiz!  The students must have studied ALOT, with a little help from their family!  Please sign and return those quizzes!  Thank you!

As September ends, we are getting into the groove of things!  Our days have been flowing smoothly as we progress through the items we need to get done.  Everyday, I list our objectives that we will accomplish throughout the day.  It is refreshing to see at the end of the day that we accomplished most things we set out to do!

Don't forget to practice multiplication & addition facts at home! Please check for your child's red homework folder each night.  There WILL BE homework each night.

Language Arts:  We continued to review long vowel sounds and explore their spelling patterns.  As a class, we continued to discuss nonfiction features by reading books about the Titanic, that we connected to The Big Fitz.  We broke into reading groups and completed at least two pages in our Reading Journal.  Mrs. Miller has been teaching us motivation lessons and how your effort effects your achievement.  We rated our effort on 2 of the Reading Journal pages and saw what our achievement was.

Social Studies/Science:  North, South, East, and West!  Our knowledge of cardinal and intermediate directions are growing!  We sang a song and completed an assignment on the STARboard.  We also continued to discuss erosion and drew examples of wind and water erosion.

Math:  We had a few review days before we moved on to the Unit 1 assessment.  Again, the students were confident when taking the test.  The assessment should be sent home sometime next week.
